It really does look like diamonds on the black sand beach. Arrive at lower tide and walk to the west. Be careful of rogue waves, but walk closer to the shore. The most beautiful scenery I have ever w…Full review by amyhQ4703SI
My friend and I are visiting at the end of September/beginning of October. We are trying to decide the best itinerary for 2-3 of the days of our week long trip, as we would like to go to Vik, Skogafoss, Eyjafallajokull, and Diamond Beach. We are staying in Kalastadir for our visit but are fine staying in a hotel/hostel for a night or two while down along South Coast. We would love to go to an ice cave as well but understand there is really only one you can visit at that time of year due to warmer temperatures. Any advice you are able to offer would be greatly appreciated!

Diamond Beach is a must see. It’s breathtaking and I doubt that you will find anything like it anywhere else in the world.
I am visiting Iceland by the end of April. I am planning also to visit Diamond Beach and i was wondering, will they be ice chunks (as seen in other photos) on the shore?
A:
Yes, you can see them all year, no matter season, weather, day or night.
It’s going to take me 4 hours to get here from Reykjavík and then 4 hours back, is it worth it???

Hi No, if you only want to see the Diamond Beach it is not worth it as worst case there are no ice cubes on the beach. But if you consider just on the other side of the bridge (150m), there you have a very nice view onto the jökulsárlón glacier lagoon. Also on the way there you will pass the Seljalandsfoss and the Skógafoss (you can't miss them they are just beside the main ring road). So if you get up early, you can fit in all of these and it's really worth to go.
