Hawaiian Electric and Kauai Island Utility Cooperative crews are hard at work as they respond to multiple power outages across Hawaii on Thursday, January 30, 2025.
Hawaiian Electric: Power restored to most affected customers
On Maui, multiple outages have been reported, impacting thousands of customers in East Maui, the North Shore, Upcountry and the North Shore. As of 9:40 a.m., nearly 3,400 customers are without power in the Kula area. Hawaiian Electric said these outages are not Public Safety Power Shutoff related.

Severe weather is affecting the Hawaiian islands as power outages close schools and flooding and ponding is creating hazards for facilities. KIUC crews have been responding to weather related outages since late Wednesday evening.

"We saw a lot of instances where we had tree branches breaking off, and contacting power lines or trees getting blown into power lines. And so our crews were very busy, throughout the night, and they're continuing working on addressing all those problems and restoring power.
