Boston meteorologists are predicting up to 9 inches of snow could fall between Saturday and Sunday across Massachusetts.

By sunrise Sunday, New Englanders could see 3 to 6 inches of snow on the ground, but that total will increase by a couple more inches before noontime, putting the total forecast accumulation around 4 to 8 inches for much of Southern New England. About 3 to 6 inches are expected along the coast and north of the Mass. border.

Snow will develop after sunset from southwest to northeast, filling in by 8 p.m. or so.  The brunt of this one will occur between about 8 p.m. and 2 a.m. After starting as snow for most, it'll transition to a wintry mix near the city and even plain rain farther to the south.

Areas west of I-495 to Pittsfield will see more snow than any other precipitation type. New Hampshire, Vermont, and Maine will welcome all snow from this system.

Syracuse, N.Y. — Snow could fall at a rate of an inch an hour during a storm hitting Central New York this weekend. The National Weather Service has issued winter storm warnings and winter storm advisories for most of Central New York.

"This is the stormiest stretch of the winter with a February frenzy of storms every few days in many places," AccuWeather stated in a release.

Snow, sleet and ice hit the Tri-State Area on Saturday, and now the cleanup is underway before things freeze over.

A winter storm is set to move through the New York City metro area Saturday night into early Sunday morning. While most of Saturday will be dry, the storm will bring snow in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut later in the evening.

On Sunday at 3:05 p.m. a winter weather advisory was issued by the National Weather Service valid from 4 p.m. until Monday 7 p.m. for Oneida, Onondaga and Madison counties.
