AUSTIN, Texas - The Texas House of Representatives is set to vote on House rules Thursday and among the considerations is to form a DOGE committee that would analyze the efficiencies in the state government.

While new House rules prevent Democrats from leading committees, it increases the power of the vice-chair position which will still give Democrats some say in legislation.

The Texas House voted overwhelmingly Thursday to ban Democrats from holding powerful committee chairmanships, answering years of mounting pressure from leadership and grassroots conservatives to chip away at the minority party’s power in the Capitol.

Members of the House of Representatives have approved new rules, including a formal decision to prevent Democrats from chairing committees.
