Some recipients of pardons related to the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol are exploring lawsuits alleging civil rights violations.

Crowl, 54, was convicted in July 2023 of conspiracy to obstruct an official proceeding and aiding and abetting civil disorder for his role during the insurrection in Washington, D.C., on Jan. 6 that delayed certification of the Electoral College count confirming then-former-Vice-President Joe Biden's victory in the 2020 presidential election for several hours.

Federal prosecutors in the now-disbanded Capitol Siege Section of the D.C. U.S. attorney's office spent much of the last four years prosecuting cases against Jan. 6 rioters.
