When Democrats take the White House, they want to take over local police departments. Phoenix said no, and now it has backup from Donald Trump.

Scottsdale Police Chief Jeff Walther, who started with the department in 1994 before his eventual promotion to chief in 2020, is now taking on a new challenge as interim assistant city manager.

The Phoenix Police Department has not had a permanent police chief since Jeri Williams retired in the summer of 2022.
