Trump named Sean Curran, the head of his personal Secret Service security detail, as his nominee for director of the U.S. Secret Service Wednesday.

A long-time Secret Service agent who rushed to the stage during the attempted assassination of Donald Trump in July will be the new leader of the troubled agency, the president announced Wednesday.

Sean Curran personally protected Donald Trump against the gunman who tried to assassinate him in Butler, Pennsylvania, last year.

Mr. Curran, a current agent, will take the helm of an agency that has been the focus of several investigations since the July assassination attempt against President Trump.

The former national security advisor has faced threats from Iran going back years, including an alleged assassination plot.
