Negotiations between free-agent slugger Pete Alonso and the Toronto Blue Jays are "advancing," according to SNY's Andy Martino. Tim Healey of Newsday

The New York Mets' brass, led by president David Stearns, are trying to work out a new contract with star first baseman Pete Alonso.

The expectation is that Alonso will re-sign with the Mets on a short-term, high AAV deal rather than the long-term $200 million contract. If this is the case, then, depending on the dollar amount, a deal could be considered imminent.
