FBI officials have complied with demands to provide the Justice Department with a list of thousands of employees who worked on investigations related to the January 6, 2021, US Capitol riot, according to people familiar with the situation.

Using information about cases involving Jan. 6 or President Donald Trump to fire FBI employees would be unlawful and retaliatory, attorneys for nine agents said.

The filing includes an image of the questionnaire sent out to identify bureau employees who worked on the investigation.
