A total of eight businesses near George Floyd Square have now filed a $49 million lawsuit against Minneapolis. They’re claiming lost income, lost employees, and have seen their property values plummet due to “city conduct.

MINNEAPOLIS, MINN. Five years after George Floyd’s death, Minneapolis has failed to create George Floyd Square in a “timely and safe manner,” according to a new lawsuit filed against the city by eight businesses near the Square. The plaintiffs are seeking $49 million, claiming lost income, employees, and a drop in property values.

This is the second lawsuit in which business owners allege the city disrupted and ruined businesses by not policing the area.
