Almost one year later, the collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge continues to impact nearly half of all Baltimore-area residents, according to a report by Johns Hopkins University. ​

Researchers found that the risk is “pretty substantial” that another ship could crash into one of the nation’s other bridges, said Michael Shields.

Sixty-eight bridges across the US should be assessed to see if they are at risk of collapse if hit by a ship, transportation safety officials found, while urging the bridges’ owners to undertake immediate vulnerability assessments.
