Both No. 1 BC and No. 8 BU took care of business on Monday, earning their first meeting in the Beanpot title game since 2016.

NU retaliated with a goal at 14:39. Freshman right wing Ben Poitras redirected Jackson Dorrington’s shot from the blue line past Fowler for his first of the season. BC made it 3-1 at 18:29 when defenseman Eamon Powell crashed the left circle and ripped a wrister that beat Whitehead 5-hole for his second of the season.

Beanpot semifinal game was as easy as one, two, three — first-period goals, that is — for No. 1 Boston College men’s hockey.  Last time BC played Northeastern in the semifinal round of the Beanpot, the Huskies beat the Eagles 3–1.

The Terriers (15-9-1) punched their ticket to the championship game for the 57th time in the 72-year history of the tourney. Paced by a five-goal second period, the Terriers shook off a brief slow start and crushed Harvard, 7-1. Devin Kaplan and Cole Hutson scored two goals each to lead BU.

Boston University beat Harvard 7-1 and Boston College beat Northeastern 8-2 in the opening round of the Beanpot Monday night at TD Garden, setting up the first Eagles vs. Terriers final since 2016.

The red light bulbs that hang above the nets at TD Garden may need to be replaced after Monday’s Beanpot Tournament semifinal doubleheader, which featured No. 1 Boston College and No. 8 Boston University winning their respective games by a combined score of 15-3.
