The chief executive of Anglo-Australian gold miner Resolute Mining, who was temporarily detained in Mali last year, has resigned, the company said on Monday.

Terry Holohan is leaving the gold miner after taking time away following his release by Mali’s ruling military junta.

TERRY Holohan, CEO of Resolute Mining, announced he will leave the company just two months after being released from detainment by the Mali government. The UK-listed gold miner said in a statement on Monday Holohan’s departure will be with immediate effect.

Terry Holohan was due to return as CEO this week after taking time away following his release by Mali’s ruling military junta who held him captive for almost two weeks over a tax dispute.

Resolute Mining chief executive and managing director Terry Holohan will leave the company with immediate effect, with current acting CEO Chris Eger named as his permanent replacement.

Resolute Mining Ltd slumped following the resignation of Chief Executive Officer Terry Holohan, who was detained in Mali during a dispute with the country’s military junta last year.
