ATF+3 vs. Atf+4? | BobIsTheOilGuy
Nov 15, 2002 · ATF+4 is backwards compatable with ATF+3. THe Cf is the same for the two fluids. ATF+4 has better cold and hot temp. performance and is more restant to oxidation. You can use ATF+3 anyplace ATF+4 is called for. I really do not see why you would want to do this though! ATF+4 is a really good fluid!!! What I like to do is order C+ATF from Redline.
ATF+4 vs Universal ATF. | BobIsTheOilGuy
Jul 31, 2010 · I am stocking up for spring service on my JKU, have Amsoil 75w90, 75w140, ATF+4 for powersteering & T case, but wondering if using Amsoil ATF in my trans (W5A-580 Auto) is worth the risk since it is a universal ATF? Or just buy synthetic ATF+4?
How critical is ATF Viscosity? | BobIsTheOilGuy
Jun 5, 2002 · How critical is viscosity to ATF operation, and how would a fluid that is more viscous or less viscous affect operation and/or shift quality? Quote: One would like the fluid to have the viscosity of water, which is 0.66 cSt@40C. But, we need a …
ATF: Amsoil Signature vs Toyota WS vs Idemitsu
Dec 22, 2021 · Ravenol seems a lot like the idea behind Idemitsu, but I can't find published specs/data on it, so that's a red flag. MaxLife ATF looks like a competitor to Amsoil and it is actually certified for use in Toyota Aisin transmissions, but it just doesn't get the same level of rave reviews and people claiming it fixed existing issues.
ATF in Forks? | BobIsTheOilGuy
Jun 8, 2018 · The main reason I use ATF isn't even cost, although it is about half the cost, it's more because I try to avoid keeping special purpose lubes laying around unless there's a noticeable performance improvement. I use ATF in the forks, shocks, and primary on my Harley, plus transmission and power steering on some cars.
High and Low viscosity ATF. | BobIsTheOilGuy
Jul 31, 2003 · There have been many OEMs which recently have changed from a heavier viscosity ATF to a lower viscosity. Several reasons have been given, but one is for fuel economy. DEXRON-III was a high viscosity fluid and DEXRON-VI is a low viscosity fluid. MERCON-V was a high viscosity and MERCON-LV is a low viscosity fluid.
ATF as an engine flush - BobIsTheOilGuy
May 27, 2002 · atf is certainly NOT designed to do what we are talking about. so there will never be any guratintee's it will work as expected, or not hurt anything. im sure the shear strength of atf isnt designed to be in an engine. just for the hell of it, come next oil change im going to run 100% atf through my engine, at idle, for 5 minutes, then let it ...
Trying ATF in Harley primary | BobIsTheOilGuy
Oct 15, 2016 · But I'm loving the extra smoothness the ATF provides as you feather out the clutch when in gear. Also, I'm no engineer but logic would make me guess there's nothing going on in a Harley primary in the way of plates, bearings, gears, etc. that you don't see in cars/trucks that use ATF for many times the OCI a Harley would see.
ATF Fluid instead of Hydraulic Fluid | BobIsTheOilGuy
Jun 14, 2005 · I use primarily the larger single-stage HB gear pumps, but the smaller two-stage pumps run very well on ATF. I have used both hydraulic oil (ISO 32/46) and ATF and I prefer ATF by a wide margin. The ATF comes up to temp sooner, is essentially a …
viscosity of various ATFs? - BobIsTheOilGuy
May 15, 2013 · I am sure it has been asked before, but I cannot find the answer after searching what is the viscosity of current and past transmission fluids such as Dexron III Dexron VI Toyota T-IV Toyota WS Honda DW-1 Honda Z1 Chrysler ATF+4 Mercon V Mercon LV SP-III I don't need the precise viscosity...
