Andrew Stephen Burrows, Lord Burrows, PC, FBA (born 17 April 1957 [1]) is a Justice of the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom. His academic work centres on private law.

Mar 20, 2024 · Andrew Stephen Burrows became a Justice of the Supreme Court in June 2020. He was educated at Prescot Grammar School, Knowsley, Merseyside and Brasenose College, Oxford. He has been a barrister at Fountain Court Chambers since 1989.

Jul 24, 2019 · Professor Andrew Burrows will join the Supreme Court on 2 June 2020. Her Majesty The Queen has made four new appointments to the Supreme Court, including appointing a new President to succeed Baroness Hale, on the advice of the Prime Minister and Lord Chancellor, following the recommendations of independent selection commissions.

Andrew Burrows, QC (Hon), FBA. DCL, MA, BCL, LLM (Harvard), Barrister and Honorary Bencher of Middle Temple is Professor of the Law of England in the University of Oxford and a Fellow of All Souls College, Oxford. Between 1994 and 1999, he was Law Commissioner for England and Wales.

Due to social distancing arrangements as a result of the global Covid-19 pandemic, Professor Burrows’ swearing-in took place in a closed ceremony in the Supreme Court building. All Justices, except for the President of the Supreme Court, Lord Reed, attended the ceremony virtually.
