During qualifying for the 1973 United States Grand Prix, Cevert was killed when he crashed his Tyrrell 006 in an attempt at his maiden pole position. Cevert was the son of Charles Goldenberg (1901–1985), a Parisian jeweller, and Huguette Cevert.
