Sep 21, 2023 · Welcome to the forums. A couple of issues I see with the arm mechanism are the lack of gear ratio, and lack of proper support. If you make the motor power a little gear and the little gear spin your big gear, that will help your arm lift have more strength. Also, make sure that the motors and bearings are mounted well.

Apr 26, 2023 · I have recently built the robotic arm according to the build guide. Part of the build was to place a bump sensor behind the arm to prevent it from pulling itself apart at the base(I assume). Does anyone know if Vex has code for the arm posted somewhere? I can probably write it with a little work, but was not going to reinvent the wheel(or arm) if I didn’t need to. Thanks.

Jan 27, 2012 · First, try to balance your arm as best you can using elastic if you haven’t already. Once you’ve done this you may even find that elastic is enough by itself if your arm is light. Most teams program in a small upwards motor torque to counteract gravity, just enough that the arm won’t move either way.

Jun 6, 2020 · The arm slowly falls down. It is as if the motor internal code doesn’t keep track of where the motor position is supposed to be, but rather where it has been in the recent past, and 1 or 2 degrees is within tolerance from its recent position, so the arm slowly falls down. In the code I have set the max torque for the arm motor to be 100%.

Nov 8, 2016 · Basically let’s say I press a button to bring the arm half way up then let go of said button, Gravity will force the arm down. Is the any way to “lock” the motors in place? I’ve thought of having the motors at a resting speed of 5, but this would just over heat the motors, and wouldn’t work if a picked up a cube/star, any ideas?
