We are a progressive and dynamic labor organization, shaped by our predecessor unions and leadership who are relentless in their pursuit for social and economic justice for all workers. We represent the aspirations and needs of our members, and work to empower our members to become leaders in their workplaces and communities as well.

Since 1900, our union has steadfastly advocated for worker rights and workplace safety, and effected legislation for the betterment of all workers. Like our predecessors, Workers United is committed to stopping corporate greed, advancing the causes of social and economic justice, and improving the lives of working families, No Matter What!

After UNITE! became Workers United and joined forces with SEIU, members elected Maria to become the union’s California District Manager. The impact Workers United’s predecessor unions made on America’s labor laws cannot be overstated. In fact, they have been credited with pioneering social unionism, which Workers United continues to embrace today.

Jun 2, 2022 · The Chicago and Midwest Regional Joint Board of Workers United can trace our history to the Great Clothing Strike of 1910 in Chicago, IL. More than 100 years ago, our first members, mainly immigrant women from different backgrounds, walked off their jobs to protest their working conditions.
